Growing up, fashion & design has always been part of me. I watched the Fashion TV channel and imagined myself as one of the models doing the catwalk. As I grew older & taller, I was often thought to be a model; nevertheless, my parents didn’t encourage me to go in that direction. So I concentrated on my school and on being a top student.
While at university, I decided to do some part-time modelling gigs and pageants. This led the way to me finding a job in a fashion magazine as an editor. Later on, I worked at a Haute Couture Fashion house based in Beirut that dressed celebrities on Red Carpets at Oscars, Cannes Film Festival, Grammy Awards..etc.
It was a fun experience getting to travel to Paris and Europe during the Fashion Weeks, meeting designers, celebrities, buyers, and fashion lovers all around the world. Also getting to try on all the beautiful dresses and feeling like a real princess out of some fairy tale!
Fast forward years of enriching my CV with work experience in different high-end fashion and jewellery houses, attending several fashion weeks in Paris to New York. I decided to design some dresses for myself. I liked solid colors, figure-hugging and fitted designs. Below is a dress I designed.
The dress features :
- Gorgeous red elastic satin fabric
- Shoulder pads
- Mid-length
- Figure-hugging fit
- Deep decolletage
- Sexy, feminine, empowering yet modern & minimalist vibes
I first wore the dress at NYFW 2016, I was pregnant! I paired it with black pumps & bag, sleek, and shiny Manhattan straight hair, it was quite a successful look! Had strangers asking me what designer I was wearing. I proudly answered I am wearing “C” by Christina Gurunian 😉
